Home Made Advocaat
My love for Advocaat comes from an old family friend who is like a father to me. He is Dutch and use to drink Snowballs only at Christmas time. I was allowed to have one as a teen and only at home of course. I still love them and they always make me remember my childhood Christmases.
Unfortunately, commercial Advocaat has food colouring so I have to make my own. Advocaat is a strong Dutch liqueur, it can be sipped straight, but I prefer it made into a Snowball ( recipe at bottom of the post.)

1 3/4 cups sugar[/wc_column] [wc_column size=”one-half” position=”last”]
4 cups gin
1 tsp vanilla[/wc_column] [/wc_row]
Place your eggs in the top of a double boiler. Add the sugar and blend very well.
Place over boiling water, add the gin and cook stirring constantly. Cook your Advocaat until it thickens about 10-15 minutes.
Pour into a blender and mix. Pour into a bottle.
Advocaat can be stored for up to a month. Although easily recognizable by its pretty yellow colour I have made an Advocaat Label.
Place 2 oz of Advocaat in a tall glass. Add 6 oz of 7up and stir well. Add ice.
Other Winter Liqueurs
In addition to the Advocaat I have posted two more liqueur recipes that you may enjoy.
Enjoy your Christmas Preparations. Hugs.
