Whimsical Faerie Headband

This headband will fit a little girl or an adult.  I think it would look amazing tucked into a braid.  It takes several hours to make. You will need green, purple variegated, and white 10 w crochet cotton and a 3.5 mm crochet hook.       To make this headband I started by creating the flowers. Your will need 1 large pansy, 4 rolled roses, and 12 small flowers.         crochet…

Fairy Cream Cheese Sandwich

Fairy House Sandwiches

When the boys were little I would make food art for them. It was very helpful in coaxing them to try new vegetables.  Now with the girls I do it for fun and to make them feel special. Unless its an occasion like Christmas or Halloween, i don’t buy anything special to make the food art with; I make it with what I have at hand.  In today’s post I made two different fairy house…

Fairy Garden, Fairy Garden Ideas, Container Garden

Container Sized Faerie Garden

A Fairy Garden for Urban Settings I became fascinated with faeries only last year.  I had never heard about fairy gardens until my grand daughters showed me theirs.  Their yard has 100 year old mature trees,  pin cherries, roses, lilacs, rhubarb, raspberries.  They have a big fairy door and all kinds of treasures both purchased and hand made in their large fairy garden. We have a very small urban yard. This year I had grand plans…

faerie crown

Girlish fairy crown

I adore all things feminine, pinks, whites, lavenders, lace, linens, florals, sparkles and frills. I grew up an only girl and then the mother of only boys. Imagine when Damien and Shannon had not one but TWO little girls. I simply cannot spend enough time with them.   Our two girls relish playing dress up.  I thought it would be fun to make them various faerie items, this crown is the first one I am…

Home made raspberry cordial … like Grama use to make

Every summer my grandparents let me come visit.  I never wanted to return home, I treasured every day with Grama and Grampa. My grandparents lived in the lower mainland of British Columbia where the vegetation is always thick, lush and green.  My grandmother had two freezers full of homemade freezing and baking.  My grandmother was my craft queen; she crocheted bedspreads, sewed without patterns, quilted, knitted, crocheted, embroidered, she even knew how to do tatting. …

Faerie instead of fairy

Let me  explain why I use the term  Faerie instead of Fairy.  The two spellings are pretty generic after all and fairy is the more common term. In short, I am studying faeries; I believe they may actually exist. Fairy is the more modern term coming from Grimm’s type fairy tales; Tinkerbell, Flora, Fauna and Merryweather from Sleeping Beauty,  fairy god mother, and the tooth fairy are all wonderful fairy characters.  They are sweet, sparkly…
