Its really so much fun to join the other Bring on the Bling bloggers again,  this time for Halloween. You may recognize some of the other great bloggers from earlier Bling Hops I was able to participate in over the last year.  You will find their links at the bottoms of my post and I know you will enjoy them.    This post includes several DIY Halloween Decorations that I put together to create my  Halloween bling theme living room.

These bling posts are the funnest to create,  bling adds light and pretty to all your seasonal decor.  Of all the decor seasons don’t you find Halloween needs a little more “pretty” If so, come along my pretties this blog post is written for you.

To  create the mantel I began by going into  the storage room and bringing out all the candle holders and frames I had with bling.

If you decorated your home for fall in neutrals and metallics it won’t take much effort to update them like I did for Halloween.

Our fireplace has a large alcove that always has a large piece of art in it.    Originally I wanted a large black chandelier painting,  but it wasn’t in the budget so I created this simple owl chalkboard instead.

Then I made a Halloween banner adding some shine and sparkle.    I will post the tutorials for both the Owl Chalkboard and the Halloween Spooky Banner on the blog very soon.

The ends of the banner are held in place with two sparkly blinged cats.  One is sitting calmly and the other one is more of a rascal.

The Halloween Coffee Table

The coffee table was updated with a purchased runner from Home Sense,  the one and only silver candleabra  I found all summer garage saleing and  the pumpkin centerpiece.

You may have seen my fall home tour with a very easy to do lit pumpkin centerpiece; created another Halloween version using  a white plate, white pumpkin, battery pack  lights and a black sprig.  I recreated this for Halloween in about ten minutes, including the time it took to search for the supplies.

On the other end of the coffee table I put a pretty candy jar full of foil covered eyeballs.  I liked the metallic shine they had for my theme.

The remainder of the living room is decorated with some red cushions left over from Christmas, a black cushion cover I had long before I started blogging.

If you choose to do this type of theme bowls of bright blood red candies would be beautiful.  ( I am deadly allergic so no pretty red candy in our house.) but it would be so pretty and easy to do.

Assorted DIY Halloween Accessory Ideas

Finally the last coffee table I filled with some DIY artwork.  I will put the printables in the Faeries Library.

These frames are both shiny, the one for the owl is metallic silver and the little white one is a dollar store find from eons ago.  It has little rhinestones all around it.

For this Halloween I challenged myself to decorate our home as pretty as I could and still keep the Halloween theme.    Its not macabre,  evil or scary. If you wanted it a bit more scarey you could change the printable to a rat background with the words  “I SEE YOU”  but I kept mine about candy.

Over the next week or so I have a few more Halloween posts for you.  Please comment and let me know if you are enjoying my pretty Halloween series.

Would you consider making your Halloween a little more pretty?

  1. Everything looks so beautiful, Leanna. I love the mantel and the pumpkin centerpiece. That glass jar with the eyeballs is hysterical. I need to get me one of them!

  2. Now this is my kind of Halloween decorating! Love all the pretty bling and black & white elements with those fabulous pops of red. The way you decorated your chalkboard is fabulous too!

  3. I love that you give your fall decorations so much thought and attention. I think you have a very welcoming home! Also, you have a storage room for all your decore?! I am a tad bit jealous 😉

  4. I love the pretty Halloween theme! I’m so tired of being sickened at the sight of rotting, slimy, skeletal stuff. I know it’s all in fun, etc, and I’m being the equivalent of Scrooge at Christmas, but I don’t WANT to look at icky stuff for a month! Thank you for the inspiration!
