An Evening Fall Home Tour

Illuminated Fall Decor

This fall I decided to use my older traditional fall decor, add some teal for contrast and lights to brighten the longer evenings.   Our days are already noticeably shorter and the lights add a different ambiance.

I  have always believed that I can have anything I want, but Not everything I want.    The decor in this post is either from my stash or  inexpensive diy projects.    This allows me to purchase several fall colored light sets.  The new light sets that come in different shapes and colours are so easy to use and added a nice update from previous years.

The front foyer has some candles that I have not lit yet.  The Welcome sign is a diy project and the large arrangement is various dried florals and real branches for height.

The kitchen has some very simple fall decor in it, but nothing illuminated.  The dining room has a centerpiece that lights.

The focal point of the family room is always the fireplace.  In the picture there are no lights turned on anywhere in the family room or kitchen.    The golden huge of the lights is very cozy.  The little lit pumpkin on the mantel is four or five years old, its fun because when turned off the pumpkin is a teal colour.

The decor on the coffee table  is the most brilliantly lit.  There is also a few lights woven around the basket that sits nearby.

Candles are beautiful especially when scented, but although more expensive I prefer the lights now.  They don’t melt, or get hot and I find I turn them on more then the candles.

In addition to my rather short post I have two other home tours from my blogging friends,  Lynne at My Family Thymne and Jeannee from Centsably Creative.

This centerpiece from Jeannee with the tall central feathers is a beautiful example  of how to add height and elegance to a floral arrangement.

This piece of art from Lynne is the type of artwork that makes a house a home.  It conveys her feelings about gathering and sharing.  So timeless and beautiful for any time of year.

What type of theme are you using for fall decor this year, traditional, farmhouse, whites, metallics, or jewel colours?

Do you have a  favorite style or are you like me and love them all?

  1. I love your Welcome sign! Very nice. And the teal pieces in front are gorgeous! I decided to last year (or maybe the year before) that I didn’t want to use orange any more. I am loving the new looks.

    1. I am with you on the orange decor Nikki. I had been using neutrals as well, but I couldn’t give it away so I decided to find a way to use it. Thank you for commenting.

  2. I love the idea of combining the lights with traditional decor. Last year after Halloween my son and I scored a bunch of plain, tiny orange lights on super sale. Looking at your pictures I am getting ideas on who to utilize them, especially for an arrangement by the front door. Inside as well though. I am not a fan of super bright lighting and love using feature lights here and there around the hosue, your ideas for decorating with fall lights will fit in our home.

    1. That’s really great to hear Milena. The new battery light packs are great and now they are coming out in different styles like ghosts etc.

    1. I hope you share it Debra. I love looking at all the different decor styles although they tend to make me rethink what I chose to do. Have a great week.

  3. What a beautiful, cozy home you have decorated for fall! I love the glow of the lights and the colors you have chosen. The teal is gorgeous! Thank you for sharing. Your home is lovely!

    1. Hi Lynne: The lights are nice in the evening even if I am by myself I turn on the mantel and the large pumpkin. I am glad you like the colour choice.

  4. Leanna, I love the beautiful glow of your lights! The Teal glass pumpkins, vases and candlesticks are fabulous ! I don’t believe we have to buy new decor every year to make a change, we just have to change it up! You did an amazing job of that!

    1. Thank you Kristy. That is the first farmhouse sign I have made. I love them and will certainly be making more. I appreciate you stopping by.

    1. Funny that you mentioned cider because my son was allergic to hot chocolate and now I am. Hot apple cider is a staple here during the cool months. I love it mulled. Thanks for commenting Carolann. I always love hearing your input.

  5. I enjoyed seeing all your pretty lights and how you’ve added them to your fall decor. Your Welcome sign in your entry is fantastic and you’ve decorated around it wonderfully. I’ve been adding lots of battery operated lights/candles around our home too – you are right, way less messy and worrisome than real candles. Hope you had a nice weekend.

    1. Thank you, the lights are really nice for the evening and adds a modern touch to the traditional oranges. Thank you for the very nice comment Lori.

  6. Hi Leanna and Happy Fall! Thank you for opening your home up for a Fall tour. I love the turquoise mixed with the traditional fall colors, it feeds my soul. I actually have one of those glass pumpkins you display in your foyer in turquoise. I happen to list one of my son’s homes for sale in the fall a few years back and I staged it with your same color palette. Love what you served up for us to enjoy!

    1. Oh right on Debbie about the colour pallet. It is a nice way to use the traditional colours with a little extra flare. Nice to hear from you.

  7. Love how you have brought all this light into your home! I enjoyed the other fall tours too. Everything is such great inspiration! Pinned. Thank you so much for sharing, and for being a part of the Hearth and Soul Link Party, Leanna.

  8. Leanna – I remember you mentioning in a previous post that you decided to keep your “orange-ish” fall decorations, and mix them with teals and turquoise. I think you hit it out of the park; your colors mix together beautifully, and are both festive and cozy! I love the strings of lights, and how intimate and cozy it feels in your family room with just your fall lighting! Here’s to more blog hops together!
